 "Absolutely loving our Gdiapers!" 2009-06-30
By J. Wadkins (Portland, OR United States)
My husband and I just started G-diapering our new baby two weeks ago, at 3 weeks of age. We absolutely love them to pieces. Everything about them so far has been great - fit, convenience, absorbency, looks, environmental impact, price.

Fit - These started fitting right at 8 pounds. He is now at 10 pounds and they are great.

Convenience - They are a bit more inconvenient than a disposable, this is true. But I still find them extremely convenient, even when out and about. In my diaper bag instead of disposables I have an extra pant/liner, a few inserts, and a plastic baggie. This is all I need to take care of flushing (or tossing) while out and about, and the baggie is where the cover/liner goes if it gets poopy. In fact the only place they are obviously more inconvenient than a disposable is at home, since I have to put my son down somewhere safe and take them to the bathroom.

Absorbency - My son doesn't seem to be too heavy of a wetter. They are great at containing urine and breastfed BMs. I have never had a pee leak. Occasionally the poop will get a bit on the outer cover which means the pant needs to be washed, but it has never gotten out on his clothing. We have 7 gpants which is more than enough to only need to wash every 3-4 days.

Looks - The pants are so adorable. They look like bottoms all on their own. They look great just with a t-shirt instead of the trashy look you have with a disposable diaper and no bottoms. I find myself deliberately dressing him in tees instead of onesies so that I can show off his adorable tush.

Price - They are a bit more than a disposable, but if you sign up for Amazon delivery, you get 15% off which makes them almost the same price.

Environmental impact - I am very impressed and pleased with these because I know the pee/poop is going exactly where it belongs and I'm not putting anything into a landfill. I'm not exactly a crunchy mama, but I have always been appalled at the idea of garbage in general, so the idea of disposables really turned my stomach. I am so pleased to have an option in between disposables and cloth.

Speaking of cloth, the gdiaper is an excellent gateway diaper to cloth, and in fact can be used with cloth. Shortly I will be using cloth in my gdiaper covers, as gdiaper has just released their gcloth line of inserts. Because of the awesome inner liner, there will be a very small item to wash and again the covers will only need to be washed every few days.

Overall I am thrilled with this product and would heartily recommend it to any and all.

 "I wish..." 2009-05-30
By Melanie P. Light (Orlando, FL)
Even though I really love using the gDiaper system, I wish these liners were JUST a little bit sturdier... They bunch up when they get wet, and then if any poop comes, it's 'game over' for the liners. Not fun when you're out and about. Thankfully, it's VERY rare for the leaks to even make it to the fabric portion of the gDiaper, much less baby's clothes. I'd say that I've had more all-out blow-outs with my disposables than with these.

If you go with g-diapers, which I think are a REALLY cool alternative and happy medium between disposable and cloth, I HIGHLY recommend investing in several extra snap-in liners (that you can get from the [...] site).

"Wait and use for awhile before reviewing" 2009-04-23
By EmElle (California)
I've been using these since my daughter was born nearly 7 months ago. Had I reviewed them immediately after her birth, I'd have given a more negative review. These diapers can be a big PITA to use if you have a child that poops a lot, as my daughter still does. We don't use these at night or out of the house. These diapers can also be a big PITA if you are using the Diaper Champ to dispose of them. We don't flush as our toilets can barely keep up with normal use. If you use these, be sure to get lots of liners, especially in the smaller size. As your child's digestive system matures, you won't need as many. If you are using the Diaper Champ (which is excellent with hiding smells!), open up the unit to dispose, instead of using the flip handle. Do also be sure to change every 2-3 hours, because if they get too full, they can open up and you can have small beads all over your child's bottom.

While this review sounds negative, I actually otherwise like them, and the pants are way too cute. Now that my daughter's poos are no where near as prolific or messy, diaper changing isn't a problem anymore.

Give this product some time, if you are genuinely interested in limiting your impact on our world, in an attempt to be green(er).

"Great idea not great for real use" 2009-04-09
By T. Morris (Miami Beach Fl)
I ordered these diapers when I was pregnant since I wanted to be as organic and good to the enviroment as possible. When I first used them our son did a poopy right away in the diapers and the poop leaked out all over the diaper. It was pretty messy and I decided in all my newborn eshaustion and recouping from a very difficult birth to not continue using them. I probably would have given them another chance if I was feeling better but just couldn't at the time. If you dont mind a bit of mess I would try them for the enviroment!

"Perfect Alternative to Wasteful Disposables" 2008-10-09
By M. Rule (Virginia)
I love the gdiapers! SOmetimes we use the cloth inserts from cottonwood baby with the occasional albeit rare leak. The leaks with the inserts are rare. Expect to switch out gdiapers with a big poop. It doesn't get everywhere, but if you don't catch it early, then a dollop will touch the cloth, and you will have to change the diaper, but I LOVE THEM! Great to travel with also!
